Copper Solder Ring Pipe & Fittings.

A solder ring fitting, also known by the trademarked name Yorkshire fitting, is a pre-soldered capillary connectors for joining copper pipes used in plumbing.

While less convenient than compression joints and less reliable than flux solder joints, they are useful when fitting in confined spaces and where single handed fitting is required.
The fittings come in a great variety of configurations, such as Tee-pieces, straight couplers, elbows or bends, reducers (to join pipes of different diameters), stop-ends, and there are versions with screw threads (male or female) at one end to fit taps and galvanized iron pipes. Available in sizes 8mm, 10mm, 15mm, 22mm & 28mm.

Brass Compression Fittings.

Compression fittings are also used extensively for hot and cold water taps and toilet stop valves. Compression fittings are well suited to this application, as these valves are usually located in confined spaces where copper pipe would be difficult to solder without creating a fire hazard.

Compression fittings are popular because they do not require soldering, so they are comparatively quick and easy to use. They require no special tools or skills to operate. They work at higher pressures and with toxic gases. Compression fittings are especially useful in installations that may require occasional disassembly or partial removal for maintenance etc., since these joints can be broken and remade without affecting the integrity of the joint. They are also used in situations where a heat source, in particular a soldering torch, is prohibited, or where it is difficult to remove remains of water from inside the pipe which prevent the pipe heating up to allow soldering. Available in sizes 8mm, 10mm, 15mm, 22mm & 28mm.
